As I was checking EBAY today to see what new Carl Crawford cards, that I cannot afford, were listed I came across this listing. The seller thinks this is a Carl Crawford sketch card. I am not so sure. Either the artist is not very good at capturing the essence of Carl, or this is someone else. I am leaning towards Desmond Jennings. What do you think??????
THE CARD ADDICT
WOW. I say Upton, but it's OBVIOUSLY not CC. He's a lefty, the guy on the card is a righty (helmet ear flap protects the left ear, which faces the pitcher). I like how he says in the ad that "consensus at the shop was CC." WOW.
ReplyDeleteGood call on the Righty Lefty.... I hadn't even thought of that!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! That is actually supposed to be BJ Upton... Its a close up of a batting pose from a 2009 card. The "artist" had contacted me about buying the original last week for a hefty sum. I told him I don't collect BJ Upton... I wonder if the folks bidding on it know what they are getting. I have a bunch of rare "Carl Crawford" cards I could sell them... Great catch Jeff...
ReplyDeleteThe artists could easily solve this by including the name of the player that they drew.
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct on that. I saw another auction on ebay last week for a Longoria Sketch card that was obviously Carlos Pena. Here is a link:
